Erlangen, 8 June 2017 – Dr. Arthur Meßner, who has been a member of the Management Board of HumanOptics AG since 2001, asked the company’s Supervisory Board to prematurely release him from his appointment to the Management Board and from his related employment contract at the end of financial year 2016/2017, i.e. as per 30 June 2017, in order to pursue new professional challenges.
The Supervisory Board of HumanOptics AG has accepted Dr. Meßner’s decision with great regret. Its members would like to thank Dr. Meßner for many years of excellent teamwork, dedicated commitment and outstanding achievements, especially in recent years, in which HumanOptics AG has progressed to a new level in terms of company size. They wish him all the best for his future career.
Dr. Meßner’s current responsibilities will be taken over by CEO Dr. Pierre Billardon in the future. Dr. Meßner will continue to support HumanOptics as an advisor.
HumanOptics AG achieved significant sales growth over the past fiscal year. In view of the current corporate growth strategy, the supervisory board has decided to expand the executive board with the addition of Dr. Pierre Billardon, an experienced manager in the industry. The aim is further development of the innovative strength of the company. Effective January 10, 2017, as CEO Dr. Pierre Billardon assumes responsibility for the marketing, sales, and production departments.
Dr. Billardon has excellent management expertise and many years experience in ophthalmology. Apart from in positions in international management at Ciba Vision and Novartis in Switzerland, he spent many years at Carl Zeiss, from 2010 as president of Carl Zeiss France. Most recently, he held the position of president of Alcon France. Dr. Billardon holds a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical engineering.
Former CEO Dr. Arthur Meßner's role on the executive board will be increasingly devoted to the areas of research and development, as well as quality management and product approval.
